Bridgestone World Golf Championship
Tuesday afternoon I took Andrew and Graham and two of their friends (Thomas and William) to the practice round for the Bridgestone World Golf Championship. Kids get in free and you can bring cameras so it is a good time to have the kids see what a golf course is like and to see some of the best golfers in the world practicing. The first thing they learned is that a golf course is very big and just walking from one hole to another was a lot of work. The picture below shows the kids walking up the very long par 5 second hole.
We spent some time near the first tee. The players come out and hit on the driving range and then as they come over to the first tee they pass by a roped off area where we were standing and often come over to sign autographs. Here is Steward Cink signing Andrew's guide to the golf course. Cink won the British Open this year. He was very nice and signed everyones items and even let a few people take pictures with him.
The boys are standing next to the bunker to the left of the first hole green.
Here they are sitting in front of the 18th hole green. You can see the grandstands around which on Sunday when Tiger Woods won the tournament would have been packed
The marines had a couple of hummers on display and let the boys climb in an look around. They were quite impressed by the thickness of the armor and the glass in the windshield.
